Welcome to usmexico.org, the website of the United States - Mexico Business Council (USMBC). An online resource for our Members and visitors who wants to learn more about the US - Mexico trade and investment relationship, USMBC's programs, publications, events and activities.
The U.S. is Mexico’s largest trading partner, buying more than 80% of Mexican exports in 2008. Mexico is the third largest U.S. trading partner after Canada and China. Total trade between the two countries exceeded $367 billion in 2007 – including services, we trade more than $1 billion a day.
The U.S. currently provides 42% of all FDI in Mexico, benefiting more than 20,000 Mexican companies, which supports 838,400 jobs and contributing 3.3% to Mexico’s GDP. Also provides up to 50% of all inputs for Mexico’s “maquiladora” manufacturing/assembly companies, which translate to over $41 billion in annual sales. In 2007, the “maquiladora” industry was the third largest provider of foreign currency income to the Mexican economy, behind petroleum and remittances.
The U.S.-Mexico Business Council is the premier business advocacy organization dedicated to facilitate and to promote investment and trade between United States and Mexico. The Council monitors and advocates policies of critical importance to U.S.-Mexico economic relationship, provides information updates on the business climate in both countries, and develops strategic relationships between business in both countries.
We see our site as a way to further that mission. Our goal is to make www.usmexico.org the single best website for users searching for information and insights about the US-Mexico business relationship. Users will, of course, find materials produced at the Council and much more.
